Lake Solano Park

Okay, so it's Spring. Isn't that rediculous? The flu is going around and people are dropping like flies; it's 65 degrees and the flowers and trees are blooming. We fragile East Coasters are baffled - not complaining, just confused.

To celebrate our one day off, Sunday, we went to a little county park in Solano County, about 15miles from Davis.

Why not go for a walk with the added thrill of potential rattlesnake encounters?

We heeded their warning for a fleeting moment, then promptly rolled over as many logs as we could find.
Yeah.

This is our first amphibian siting, it looks similar to the red-backed salamanders out East, but with stumpier legs and a skinnier body:

In addition to biting reptiles, we were advised to look out for ferocious mountain lions and bobcats... what do you think, did we find their tracks?

PS. Happy birthday Needledad!
