Needlerents and Leigh in DC

The Needlerents met me (Leigh) in DC after the SFN (Neuroscience) meeting. We spend 4 action-packed days running around the city in true Needleman fashion. . .

In the cold weather, we first walked from Dupont Circle, where we were staying, to the National Zoo. We spent most of our visit watching the three Giant Pandas and two Red Pandas. Irrisistible, no?
We then walked to the National Cathedral. Here's a picture of Needledad and I briskly walking to the entrance.

The Cathedral has so many fun touches in gargoyles and designs like this "cat-onic?" column.

On our second day, we visited and had tours of the Supreme Court and Library of Congress. Both buildings have rich histories and are beautiful pieces of architecture. We also saw an exhibit on Pompeii at the National Gallery of American Art.

Besides the gorgeous architectural tours, our favorite cultural activity was our visit to the Lino Tagliapietra exhibit at the Renwick Gallery. Tagliapietra is an Italian glassblower who creates the most incredible glass pieces I have ever seen.
All in all, fun to hang out with the 'rents and we saw some great stuff too!

Thanks Mom for all the pictures and, well, Dad...
