fires and air quality

As you may have heard, there are many fires burning in CA right now. The smoke accumulation has been quite bad in the Valley and I have been receiving email alerts that look like this:
If you are wondering where the fires are located, this is a map I retrieved at 11PM from the web (There is a green asterisk over Davis):
Andrew's cousins Janet and Rich are in Magalia, right next to Paradise CA. They may be evacuated from their home, so we are thinking rainy thoughts and hoping the wind keeps pushing away from their home.

In addition to the horrible smoke, the temperature has been unbearable - it reached 109 today. And, the A/C in our house was broken, but thanks to a speedy repair company, it's up and running again - phew!
